International Industry Leaders Join Lotus Microsystems Board of Directors

The Copenhagen-based fabless semiconductor company, Lotus Microsystems, has expanded its Board of Directors with international leaders in the field from March 2023. The two new board members bring experience from leading positions, most recently at global market leaders Intel and Renesas.

Lotus Microsystems was incorporated in 2020 by three Ph.D. graduates from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The research behind the technology started five years earlier and spanned across DTU, Harvard University, Fraunhofer, and IMEC. The company has received financial backing from Danish and European support schemes, in addition to investments primarily led by deep-tech venture firm Noon Ventures. Through a partnership with leading global semiconductor facilities, Lotus Microsystems offers next-generation miniature power converters with the best-in-class power density and superior thermal performance.

Profiles of the new members of the board:

  • Ashraf Lotfi, New Jersey, US. Dr. Lotfi has more than 30 years of experience in power electronics and semiconductors. In 2002, he founded the power semiconductor company Enpirion, which was acquired by Altera in 2013 and, more recently, Intel Corporation. His most recent position was Vice President and CTO of Power Management at Intel Corporation in San Jose, CA, and New Jersey. Today he operates as a professional board member and venture investor.
  • Arend van der Weijden, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. Mr. van der Weijden was Chief Marketing Officer of SiTel Semiconductor, which he co-founded in 1995. SiTelwas acquired in 2011 by Dialog Semiconductor and, more recently, by RenesasElectronics, where Mr. van der Weijden has served as a business unit vice president for the past 10 years.
